Dead outlets were traced to a bad GE GFCI, swapped it out by mid-morning like clockwork. No burning smell anymore, total relief since this was the holiday morning.
One of their technicians came to our house because our power was out in our detached garage. He checked our panels in the basement and then went to the garage and figured it was the main outlet - a typical GFI. He replaced it and was finished before he was here for 30 total minutes. He then proceeds to charge $489 for this. Not once did he say what the costs would be after the inspection. Crooked people. Do not use them. I can't believe I gave him a water.
