The most important theater in NYC. Wonderful selection of movies.
"Essential Cinema" screenings almost always without subtitles
pretty wonky but you gotta love it: in the midst of Jean Rouch's 5-hour PETIT A PETIT we were shuffled to a different theater for air conditioning--and then the 16mm print stopped working at the end.
Weird spot. Most films just old B movies that I feel I can't praise very highly. Still, a refreshing spot. Just don't sit next to any cackling old gentlemen, and you'll be fine.
Super cute theatre. Small but cozy. Very friendly staff. Would definitely return to see another flick!
