I went to Dr. Sykes for a second opinion to address my TMJ issues. The first specialist I saw recommended approx. $5,000 of interventions (day time splint, Invisalign, and new a night guard.) Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am so pleased with the oral appliance I now have to help treat my obstructive sleep apnea. The staff at TMJ & Apnea Alternatives have always been professional, helpful, polite and accommodating. I've used a CPAP machine for years, but it was always a hassle to travel with - the machine always had to be my carry-on luggage on flights, and I always needed to stay where I had electricity available. Having an oral appliance has opened up realms of adventure and new experiences.
I had an April 2026 mild sleep apnea diagnosis through UofM. For my treatment, I chose to use the mandibular advancement oral device offered by Dr. Sykes' clinic. I've been using the retainer-like device nightly for about 3 months. I'm so pleased with the restful sleep I'm getting. As a stomach and side sleeper, it's easy to use, adjust and clean. Dr. Sykes and his staff have been so helpful with follow-up management advice. And there's a happy office vibe.
Dr. Sykes is very knowledgeable and personable. Office staff are helpful - they handled all billing and it was easy to get appointments. I was fitted with an apnea mouthpiece. Everything related to the fitting and follow up process went smoothly. Am very glad I decided to try this device.
