The Best! We have been going to ACU since we arrived in Columbus in 1996. The compassion and care our pets have received has been excellent. Dr. Burton is a wonderful and insightful vet. I can count on Dr Jodi Smith to care for our 2 german shepherds. We also have 2 cats and ACU has ALWAYS been available when ever there was an emergency. When we lost our shepherd, husky mix, I could not have asked for a more compassionate team of people who grieved with us and was just wonderful. Good, but expensive This doctor and his fellow vets specialize in exotic animals ranging from parrots to lizards. He is very aware of how fragile birds are and likes yearly check ups with blood work. Another vet arrived in the middle of the night for an emergancy call about my bird. She worked hard, but was unable to save him. She sent me a nice card afterwards. The vets are also good with cats and dogs. It is expensive to go here, but if you need the specialized care it is worth it.

We used Animal Care Unlimited for our pets for about 6 months because they are located conveniently and advertise emergency services. They saw our ferret and our cockatiel. When I called to schedule an initial visit for the bird, they quoted me $50. We went, they manhandled our rescued bird roughly by the tail, and then announced they wanted to do $300 in tests on him. They treated us poorly for feeding him seed at the time since he was starving himself rather than eat pellets and offered no advice to help with the transitio... read more

Not pleased – I haven't been there in over a year so it's possible things have changed but I was generally displeased with this practice for a number of reasons. Some of the staff is friendly but I also got rude treatment on more than one occasion (one tech brusquely informed me that handling my crying but non-aggressive dog was "really stressful.") Great for Sugar Gliders – Dr. Burton sure knows his way when it comes to sugar gliders. It is so hard to find an exotic animal vet that really does. They were gentle and insightful.
