Angelo's Pizzeria

4.1

About this business

Named after a famous pizza maker, Angelo’s at the corner of 55th Street and 2nd Avenue is one of a few restaurants in Midtown named for the man. It does him justice. Except for the finicky, Angelo’s is a solid choice for good basic Italian fare. Fresh ingredients make the difference, especially for the coal-fired pizzas. A full bar and good selection of Italian wines to compliment the pizzas and pastas go down well. The wait staff could be friendlier, but are very efficient. Good Food, HORRIBLE SERVICE – The food is good, but there is lots of good pizza in this city. It isn't worth coming to this place when there are so many other places that offer good food and actually treat their customers like they want them. They are not only rude and unattentive, there are so many little things that just grate on you -- they DON'T allow strollers, DON'T offer butter, DON'T take reservations for parties of six or more, DON'T have air conditioning (the temperature is almost never comfortable and the same day... read more

My sauce was very meaty and substantial, not like some Italian places that skimp on the sauce. My husbands was full of chicken pieces and very creamy. The service was great. We got water, olive oil and bread right away. I ... read more

Good food! No frills!! – Great salads and brick-oven pizzas, along with other Italian pasta, meat, chicken and seafood dishes in a casual, relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. And, the best news of all is that you'll get quality, tasty dishes without getting a bill that knocks your socks off! A neat neighborhood place!
