Very nice hotel but not worthy of a five star title due to lack of beach access, hidden fees, and construction limiting pool access. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was for the beach access. However, this hotel does not offer beach access. Would not recommend for anyone with a family. During our stay the main two pools were closed down to maintenance. I understand all hotels need repairs but knowing this would have directed us to another hotel. While it’s a great location in Wailea, our stay was heavily impacted by the renovation of the infinity pools and the inability to get snorkel rentals as promised in the destination fee. Based on conversations with the manager, the rental company is a third party and out of their control which is quite unfortunate as a guest on property. As a globalist, I was surprised by the funky room layout especially for an Andaz - we checked out other rooms and they all had balcony access that was blocked by part of a cabinet. Andaz Maui is a beautiful property in an incredible setting, but our recent stay was impacted by afew issues. The biggest was the extensive construction. Half of the pools, including the infinity cascading pools, were completely under construction. Because they sit immediately above the remaining pools, the drilling, workers, contractors, noise, and visual impact were impossible to miss. Overall, a very disappointing experience, especially for a hotel at this price point. The market rate for this property was around $1,000 per night before resort fees and other charges. At that level, I expected much better service, attention to detail, and overall execution. For comparison, the Four Seasons next door is often similarly priced, and sometimes even less.
