HistoryThe Birth Of The FestivalThe Anacortes Arts and Crafts Festival got its start in 1962 as the brain-child of Dr. Jack Papritz and a group of dedicated community arts patrons. The idea came from Dr. Papritz's European travels, specifically the Parisienne Montmartre - a French open-air cafe.With the support of the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce, and $300 in seed money, the first festival in July of 1962 was billed as "the longest art display in the world." Local artists, and its a HUGE festival!
Had the best time!! First time and definitely will be back! Lots of neat little shops as well to browse thru! Tides is gem if you get time to go into!
The Anacortes Arts Festival is an arts festival to to behold and experience on a annual basis!
Always a cool time to be in Anacortes
It was extremely well laid out with a big variety. I particularly liked the jewelry. The food carts were nice and so was eating at a downtown restaurant and people watching at the festival (all the restaurants had cute outdoor spaces for the event)
