I am writing this review as a parent of a child with epilepsy who was treated at AMS Neurology. Unfortunately, our experience became very concerning after great NP Michael Acosta left the practice. Since then, communication, follow-up care, and billing coordination have been extremely problematic. Been coming here for a few years now. Office staff has been nothing but friendly, courtesy and professional. Making appointments is easy and they have a flexible schedule, in my opinion. Update: Feb. 23 2026. I have been waiting for almost 2 months to have a form filled out so my child can take medication at school. I have called multiple times and have been given numerous excuses as to why it's not done such as, the doctor is out today, it's on the doctor's desk, I'll have to call back after I take to the doctor. Dr Charles Niesen is an excellent pediatric neurologist. He takes his time and helps guide you through prescriptions and treatments. His staff is always very courteous, friendly, and very helpful. I would refer anyone to his practice. I am so glad that he is treating our teen daughter. I appreciate how he communicates not only with us as parents but our daughter. AMS Neurology, which includes Dr Niesen and his staff, is the BEST care my twins have received! Not only does Dr Niesen truly care about his adolescent patients, he takes the time to understand the family dynamics. Doing this he is truly caring for the whole family unit. Supportive, encouraging, intelligent, and if I disagree with the direction he thinks my kids should go he is human enough to admit he doesn't know everything. Dr. Nissen always willing to help anyone and really takes care and patience! So into his practice Understand my daughter needs!! Couldn’t be more thankful for him. He is the best neurologist for my daughter!!
