Excellent products. I draw on Scratchbord and Claybord. I use their Ampersand Inks on most of my drawings. I can achieve very fine detailed drawings on these surfaces.

Until Ampersand made their wonderful Encausticbords, it was a process to prepare a panel BEFORE getting to the painting. Now I just break out an Encausticbord and go. The cradled panels are ready to hang instantly and the Floater Frames for the 1/4" panels are gorgeous. I teach with them in all my Encaustic and Cold Wax and Oil classes.

I only use Ampersand Pastelbord for my pastels. I’m primarily plein air and pastelbords are sturdy, stand up to water, multiple uses, and need no backing for framing which is good for competitions. The sanded surface is about 400 grit and very even. I prefer boards above all papers!

Ampersand painting substrates have been my favorite surfaces for years! I started with Claybord for my acrylic paintings and now work exclusively with Encaustibord for my encaustic paintings!

I never experience warping and splitting with Ampersand and I have with other discount brands. The variety of prepared surfaces available for all media allow me to do things with my art that I was never able to achieve before.

Wonderful products for all types of media! I use the gessobords for my cold wax paintings. Just unwrap and paint!

Excellent quality products! I use mainly Scratchbord, but also Claybord, Stampbord and Aquabord for my art, and Gessobord to make custom backing boards for my finished pieces. Customer service is top-notch too.
