I called to see what their rates would be compared to my current policy. Rather than waste their time getting quotes for all of my policies (I have several rentals), I suggested using just one as an example to get a ballpark idea of how their pricing might compare to my current insurance company. Nope. They don't want to waste their time doing one quote because it is SOOO laborious, they want to give me quotes for all or not at all. Let’s talk about Amica and their so-called “coverage.” I’ve been with these guys for a decade, loyal customer, multiple policies, the whole nine yards. This year, I get a brand new duplex, Amica suddenly decides they’ll only cover the half I’m living in. The other half, which I’m renting out? “Sorry, you’ll need to find another insurance provider for that.” Seriously? As for buying insurance, they are fine as I have Homeowners and my car with them for many years. I have a Water claim with over $20,000 worth of damage caused by a townhouse unit behind me. This happened over a year ago. I never got an initial call from an adjuster, introducing themselves or explaining the claim. It was a good thing that I was a multi line claims adjuster with over 35 years of experience with two major insurance companies and knew what to do.
