Amethyst Mine Panorama is an active, working amethyst mine. Each season we carefully extract beautiful amethyst crystals from our family owned and operated amethyst mine. We then hand-craft the amethyst into beautiful amethyst jewellery, clocks, gem trees and other items. Visitors are encouraged to visit the mine from June 1st until October 1st. Great time with our kids searching for amethyst. Everyone was friendly and the mine was really fun!
The owners are wonderful people, friendly and kind. We learned so much about the mining process and about the amethyst itself. It was a lot of fun picking the amethyst up and washing it to see what you found. Great way to spend some time!
We were welcomed warmly by one of the owners. She explained the history of the area and the mine and how it relates to her family. We went outside and enjoyed a breeze that kept the black flies at bay. After she explained to us how the amethyst was discovered, we were able to see some wonderful mined pieces of the quartz and amethyst with so many different shades and the fault line. My family and I loved our time here. The amazingly nice couple runs the mine that the husband’s family bought back in 1980. My kids learned a lot about geology and enjoyed finding amethyst all over the mine area. The owner even gave the kids some tumbled pieces as we left. It was the perfect and unique thing to do for a full afternoon.
We had a great time visiting the Panorama mine. The owner was kind and we were able to find plenty of beautiful pieces of amethyst.
