Had a very nice experience donating platelets. Everyone was considerate and professional. Special thank you to Carla who went to great lengths to make sure the whole experience was positive.
Went to get my blood drawn and while the lady was nice she missed the vein in my right arm. She attempted to readjust and apparently missed because blood began gushing out of my arm. We were eventually able to stop the bleeding. She tried my left arm but missed the vein. She asked for her superior to help and she stated “ I ain’t touching that.” So now I have huge bruises on both arms. Are they trainees? It sure seemed like it. I expect more from the Red Cross.
Last 2 trips have been a mess. 2 ago, appointments were overbooked, then staff wanted me to just wait ocer an hour instead of just doing a regular blood draw. Last one, staff apparently couldn't be bothered to check me in, the front desk laptop apparently has quirks as I had to do it myself. After a 10 minute wait, then had the initials done, and was told to go wait in the snack area for another 10 minutes. One of the ladies that was gonna draw blood came and interrupted the representative in front and told me that I could not assist my husband with completing his information online, and I told her that he did not have his eye glasses so I was reading for him and she said he could not donate blood. And I being his wife was not able to assist him.I informed her that I complete all his paperwork for him at the Hospital. Unfortunately, staff of trainees who don't know how to measure blood pressure, let alone draw blood. The nurse has very long fingernails, which is unsuitable for her job, as she cannot wear gloves because of them. I urge the management to consider these observations for the safety of the donors.
