I too started receiving phone calls, 4 to be exact, and the rep was telling me I had a ticket (18) years ago in a town in Mississippi, and I told her I did not, and to stop calling me. I told her I was filing a complaint with the FTC, FCC, CFPB, Texas Attorney General and Mississippi Attorney General (which I did), and the phone calls stopped. Received letter on 12/9/16 stating I had an active warrant due to an unpaid seatbelt ticket from 2010. Of course I was skeptical so I called and the rep verified what was in the letter. Still skeptical, I called the traffic court of the city where I received the ticket. The court rep confirmed the ticket and the warrant with me. Of course American Municipal had added their fees so I asked the court rep if I could pay them directly. Unfortunately, I could because it had already been sent to collections. here's the inside scoop. this company isn't a scam but they are very deceptive and not a place you want to PAY (always call the Municipal Court for the city the citation was issued in and pay them) or WORK FOR. again, do not PAY (pay the court directly don't PAY AMS) or WORK FOR american municipal services. i'll explain further below: "case workers" will say that you have a warrant and so will the letters, but not all files come with warrants. in a lot of cases, you'll be told you have a warrant, but the city hasn't actually... read more

Just a collection company – I was told i had unpaid court costs on a traffic violation from 12 years ago and needed to either produce receipts or repay the $50 court costs that incurred $400 of interest charges to this agency or they would issue a warrant for my arrest. Please be aware, I had a ticket a while back that was paid. However the city did not update there records sending me to this "collection company". Spoke to a girl, who first couldn't even speak without sounding like she was fighting.
