A straight up scam that starts with pulling money out of the warrantee's pocket, then presents "uncovered charges" that the warranty doesn't cover that must be paid before anything else happens. Then an "upgrade" quote is provided for inferior products that are overpriced. If you enjoy engaging scams for to lose money and violate the very concept of "warranty," then American Home Shield is just right for you.

Please do yourself a favor do not give this company any of your money! Complete scam! Filed a claim for a broken furnace costs $125 contractor deems furnace unrepairable. For $1850 AHS will then share with me the specs and info of new furnace to be installed in my house. If I refuse to pay $1850 upfront the information is classified. UNBELIEVABLE! If I'm willing to pay another $5000 the model number and specs are readily available and already shared with me??????

I have had American Home Shield since 2005 and have basically been satisfied. Even with the slow service sometimes. But now I need a plumber to come to my home because our hot water heater heating element is going out (a covered item) and they keep assigning a fraudulent, unethical plumber to the job. The plumbing contractor was extremely rude to me when they first called, lied to me about the job, and was very unprofessional in the interaction (making excuses and even claiming to be someone else). So I cancelled the service... read more

Reporting to BBB and Wisconsin Consumer Protection. Our seller purchased a home warranty through this company as one of our contingencies as buyers. Our first-ever experience: AHS waited 72 hours to dispatch emergency service for a failed furnace fan in single digit weather during the week of Christmas. We contacted AHS early on December 23rd. Did not hear from dispatch until December 26th, despite numerous attempts to contact AHS to inquire about progress. They charged us the $125 service fee immediately, though—of course. ... read more

Paid extra for pool mechanicals. AHS has every stall tactic in place. Took months to get someone out. Long story short… just paid for the broken pool heater out of pocket. Tried to get reimbursed… had all kinds of excuses why would not pay. Dishwasher broke and needed replacement. I didn’t even call AHS scam plan. Not worth the hours/days/weeks of wasted time and aggravation.
