I’ve used this company for over 10 years. Recently, I sold a house and suggested that the new homeowners use the same warranty company. Boy was that a mistake. The buyers contacted AHS who transferred my primary house to the new homeowners instead. Now I’m blocked out of my own account and AHS is refusing to transfer it back to me unless I get the homeowners of the other property to call. DO NOT use American Home Shield company. They sent my 96 yr. old letters that were misleading & made her worried that she needed to buy this coverage. They called her & would not let her hang up until she gave them her debit card #! I called the company & had to argue with them until they finally credited the charge. Now I found out from her debit card company, that in the last month, they tried to put through the same almost $300 charge 5 times in the last month!! I have tried to cancel my American home shield insurance many times but they keep telling me that I need to wait for a specific time window. When I’ve called during that window, they tell me that it’s not the correct window and tell me a new window. They refuse to cancel my insurance policy. When I try to put in an order for any project they never actually send anyone and have cancelled multiple times. This company is a scam!!!

I submitted TWO warranty requests with American Home Shield because I have natural gas leaking in my garage—a real safety issue. Instead of being honest and telling me they couldn’t find a contractor, they just CANCELLED my request with no warning. After calling multiple times, I was told I needed to wait 24–48 hours. No help. Four days passed. I waited on hold for AN HOUR. When someone finally answered, their English was so bad I seriously couldn’t even understand them. It was like they were speaking another language.
