I have known the AAVSO since 1972 when I was living in South Africa and used to contribute with my visual estimates. In May 1982 I attended the 1st Comet Workshop at Cambridge, Boston and I took the opportunity to visit the AAVSO HQ at the time of the AAVSO Director Janet Mattei.
