Arbitration is a total sham. My case was neither efficient or low cost. It dragged on and on so the arbitrator could make more money. He would have continued on if both sides didn't protest. My experience was similar to everything written about the AAA. Arbitrators are arbitrary, they don't need to follow the law and will favor corporations because they are repeat customers. Try to go to court as even if you have a strong case you are likely to not win much in Arbitration and grounds for appeal are extremely narrow. You will... read more

The AAA markets its "product", Alternative Dispute Resolution, to businesses. In my case to a construction business who, at the time of my arbitration, had some three or four arbitrations before the AAA. Does this sound as though the AAA would ever see me the same as their repeat customer? I will tell you by the AAA's behavior and how their rules are written, they favor whoever the Claimant is. In my opinion a very biased organization towards the consumers. Of course they lean in favor of the companies making consumers go to arbitration and further dictating they use AAA to perform those services. Even though they are the administrator, they don't earn their money. Literally just have a centralized documents file, which you could create on Google and then hire a 3rd party arbitrator that both parties agree to. The parties could do that themselves.
