TL;DR: Electricity Providers use predatory/deceptive business practices (SHOCKER) My bill went from $60 to $200/mo. with no lifestyle change or additional appliances being utilized. They were not able to explain the jump from 400kWh to 1,100kWh, but rather make a guess, claiming it was due to the 8 degree difference in last month’s average temp. vs this month’s. Absolutely the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with. Amaren is a greedy, incompetent, money-sucking disgrace of a utility provider. Their customer “service” is laughable—if you enjoy sitting on hold for an eternity only to be talked down to by someone who couldn’t care less, you’re in luck. The bills? A complete scam. Random charges appear out of nowhere, rates keep climbing, and when you ask for an explanation, you get nothing but excuses and attitude.
