I have a few things to say about becoming a patient, first time visit. My daughter 17 years old had a first time visit establishing her as her primary care doctor. Amanda Cothern rushes into the room, does a very quick exam, barely touches her with her stethoscope. Then says you have a heart beat that's not normal, no regard to telling a 17 year old they possibly have a heart problem. Then orders test and rushes out of room. Dr. Cothern is our family doctor. She has always taken such amazing care of us. She takes the time to listen to our concerns, orders any and all of the tests, responds quickly to MyChart communications, coordinates with other medical practitioners quickly and easily. I am so thankful to have her as our primary care provider.
I've been here 3 times in the past year and a half. The doctor has always been very stand-offish with me. I take 2 prescription medications that have serious withdrawal symptoms and I've had to fight for the Dr to send a refill every time, having the refill request denied over and over. This doctor and establishment has made me feel like a burden and I believe a big part of it is because I'm transgender.
