My husband and I first interacted with Dr. Pathak in 2021 at the hospital in New Hanover and had a good experience. After a recent infection and being seen at a different hospital, he refused to help us. I have never encountered someone so cold. I thought in the end doctors were supposed to be there to help and provide care. I was crying on the phone asking for help. My mother was admitted for a stroke, but when she became unresponsive and developed a fever, Dr. Pathak was called to evaluate for meningitis. He was able to confirm her diagnosis, a very rare form of meningitis, within 24 hours, and helped save her life. Dr. Pathan always took time to talk to us and explain procedures and results. He is an excellent physician and I can not recommend him highly enough.
After reading some horror stories about sepsis, and lack of knowledge in the medical field, I realize that Dr. Pathak saved my husband’s life with his quick diagnosis after arriving at the ER. It wasn’t just staph and pneumonia, but also sepsis. He will never be at 100% of his old self, but he is so much better. He can walk, he can talk, he can think, he can sleep, and even go back to his work. Unfortunately, testing showed a shadow that could have been a cervical abscess and required emergency surgery. DR. PATHAK HAS A GREAT BEDSIDE MANNER. VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND EXPLAINS THE PROBLEMS WELL TO THE PATIENT. HE WANTS HIS PATIENTS TO BE INFORMED AND BE PART OF THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS. I WOULD RECOMMEND DR. PATHACK TO ANYONE IN NEED.

Dr. Pathak, I don't know if he should even be directed like that. Very cold, arrogant, and unpleasant. Does not direct his attention to you and very short. If it doesn't go his way, nothing will get resolved. Miscommunication comes from him And does not run it towards his staff and has absolutely NO patient empathy. DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR TO ANYONE.
My appointment was with PA Michaela and Nurse Laura. My experience with this office was pleasant and professional. The receptionist was friendly, thanked me for coming in early to get the paperwork completed. At no time did I feel rushed. Both the PA and the Nurse answered, in lay person's language, all of my questions and concerns. All in all, the visit was most satisfying.
