Reached out regarding a real estate matter. Was told "we may be able to help you.. may not. But you'll need to pay $450 to find out as we don't do any free consultations." I'm all for paying for a service, but to basically say "we don't know if we can help you, but you'll need to pay regardless" is wild in todays landscape filled with free consultations or some level of engagement prior to signing a retainer.
