kim n I read the comments of Joe J and couldn't disagree more adamently. Yes, there is dirt there - you can't ride horses on much else. However, AS has allowed me to relive my youth and share it with my teen daughter. I grew up riding and gave it up for grad school, marriage and young kids. However, my younger child was always passionate about horses. She began taking lessons at AS in 1st grade and now (9th) we own 3 horses. We ride almost every day; trails and arena. A Twenty Year Boarder! I came to the stables in 1989 after taking care of my dying mother-in-law. Marcy Mclemore the manager gave me nothing but encouragement as I was 37yrs. old and wanting to have my dream as a child finally come true. I advanced well enough to actually participate in horse shows. My husband realized that this was not a hobby that I was going to not do. Altadena Stables The instructor Sharon mentioned by other reviewers has been replaced by a terrific teacher named Teri. She is great and the horses are very special. The atmosphere is fun and safe and my daughter couldn't be happier!
I love this place! Amazing instructors, great relationships, and life lessons will be learned. I loved the relationships i built with the girls i rode with and the horses i learned with. You learn a lot of responsibility. I think it's a great place to get started! Learn grooming, horse behavior, shows...etc. I love this place!
