We booked Studios on King mainly for its excellent location, right in the heart of Newcastle and within walking distance to popular beaches, cafes, bars and local attractions. Unfortunately, the rest of our stay was disappointing. The room did not feel clean and there was a strong musty smell when we first arrived. The bathroom also had an unpleasant drain smell the first time we used the shower. Pros: Location. Large fridge in room. Large kitchen and lounge space downstairs in foyer. AC. Cons: Rooms were dirty. Soiled bed linen and stains on carpet tiles. Microwave didn’t heat up. Very noisey. Floors creek. Bed extremely uncomfortable and lumpy. Not enough toilet paper and no house keeping during our stay. It was cheap at $130 a night, but we just couldn’t stay there any longer and left, paying to stay somewhere else.
