After my house was damaged in the LA fires, I contacted Allied Restoration. When discussing my situation, they informed me they require a $10,000 retainer or my full insurance deductible before they would provide an estimate or even assess the damage at the house. I believe this is not standard practice - most reputable companies provide free estimates, especially for insurance claims after fire damage.
