We often meet long time and dear friends when shopping at the ALLENTOWN FARMERS MARKET. It is one of very few places we can go now in Allentown after being born in Allentown and living here 68 years that we feel safe and enjoy our time there.
One of the most unique and friendly food shopping experiences. Tired of the "big box" groceries? Where you cannot find anyone to help, and when you do, they don't know anything! At the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market you will deal with the merchant directly, right at his or her stand He or she is probably the owner! Did you even meet the owner of a big box grocery? And you never will. Try this instead. Quality. Local and friendly.
Wish I could get there every week ! Great vendors, big variety of ethnic foods I like to eat !
Love this place! My family and I are here at least once a week (many times, twice). Loan's Vietnamese bistro has the best Pho around! I love the pickle chips at the pickle/olive stand as well. The Mediterranean stand is super fresh and reasonably priced, usually we get gyros and a bunch of sides (you can sit there or take it to go). All in all, very fresh produce and yummy stuff!!! Definitely worth a drive if you are a little further away.
Whoever was in charge of the 63rd anniversary yesterday did a piss poor job of setting it up. The market's website stated that customers could register anytime before 7:45 for prizes. I finished shopping around 5:30 then went over to register. The woman working the table said I had to wait till 6 then go back around to various stand and get a piece of paper stamped. I'm sure letting the milk and raw meat I bought warm up to room temperature would have been real safe. These people need to get their act together.
