Beautiful trail along a pristine river and forest. Make a reservation during “off season” as the staff isn’t always present.
Three of us (ages 52-74) rented bikes and were shuttled by Matt up to the Cedar Creek drop off point to bike 16 miles back to the start. It was a beautiful and easy ride! We stopped at Petticoat Junction convenience store for freshly made burgers and onion rings on the way back to at hit the spot. Matt was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, giving us some ideas on other hikes nearby as well. What a great experience! We will definitely do this again!
We were pleased with our experience using Alleghany Outdoors to shuttle our group to ride the trail. The communication with Matthew was quick and helpful. The shuttle was comfortable with helpful information provided for our ride.
We went on this kayak trip with the Wintergreen Sporting Club with about 20 people and Alleghany Outdoors provided three guides to go along with our kayak trip. The guides did tell us about the river and show us a map before we began. As with all kayak trips, you are required to wear a life vest the entire time, which was definitely a good idea as three people capsized (two in a canoe, which they had been warned might be a problem) and one in a kayak.
