To replace rotted 3 risers to an existing deck, (3X) 2X12X10 plus labor would cost $2,800 is their bid. Really? I did the math and looked at Home Depot lumber pricing and 2 guys labor (being generous) 2 men @ $30/hr for 8 hrs = $480 + 3 pieces of 2x12x10 wood @ $40 each = $120 (all other wood can be reused) Total = $600 Now add + extra material (just in case) = $100 GRAND TOTAL = $700 Even giving profit of additional $300 should sill be ~ $1,000 ( I realize you need to make some money).
