My fireplace needed a restored firebox and smoke chamber after the metal insert had rotted due to moisture. I decided I wanted to replace it with firebrick masonry. There was repair needed on the hearth as well. I had a general contractor start that job, but he had gotten an injury on another job and could not finish. I realized I needed a chimney specialist to assess and finish the job correctly and perform basic maintenance.
