Would be a cool place, if the staff was't RUDE!!! – Drink specials are cheap and the food is good (if they get your order right). Every time someone suggests this place, I think to myself that maybe they will get it together and I caught a server or bartender on a bad night. I ALWAYS leave that place annoyed with the service. I've eaten at Spats and now know why they put that staff in the basement!! UGH! NEVER AGAIN!!!
The Rathskeller definitely is lacking in atmosphere. Unless you call someone's musty, old basement atmosphere. However, this place is tradition at Penn State. Alumni and students gather here often to see local bands and of course to drink cases of Rolling Rock ponies. It's tradition! If you go for lunch, however, you will get excellent food from Spats, the New Orleons style restaurant upstairs, for a fraction of the cost. So, if you can stand the atmophere, go for it!
