I was diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 42 after having been through debilitating low back pain for more than 3 years. I have truly enjoyed working with Kristin over the past year and a half. At 73 I developed a severe case of sciatica due to my scoliosis and was referred for physical therapy by my doctor at HSS. Happily I found Dr. Kristin Romeo, a Schroth specialist. She was so positive from the start. Kristin is a very knowledgable and caring physical therapist. I came to her with a significantly curved spine and uneven hips that had been getting worse over the years. She quickly identified things I could do to align my back better -- correcting my posture, working stretched-out muscles on the convex side and reaching tall to expand the concavity. Dr. Romeo is an incredible and passionate Schroth Specialist. My daughter (age 11) was diagnosed with severe scoliosis with a cobb angle of 45 and 29 on thoracic and lumbar respectively. Surgery was the most likely option proposed, however in consultation with Orthopedist and Dr.Romeo we decided to give Schroth Therapy a try. Highly recommend Kristin for Physical Therapy if you have scoliosis! She sees patients with a wide range of ages and degrees of curve. Not only is she highly knowledgeable and professional in her filed, but also very encouraging, truly caring and just an amazing person to work with. I completed the basic Schroth program with her and will continue seeing her for PT--she is the best!
