Rented a canoe from the Minden store. Picked up the canoe late Monday afternoon just before they closed, told them we needed it for two days. They're apparently closed Wednesday so we returned the canoe early Thursday morning, put it back in the rack ourselves because they weren't open yet. Our bill was for FOUR DAYS rental: when I asked why I was told "Monday to Thursday; that's four days". 60 hours in our possession doesn't equate to four days in my calculation. READ FULL REVIEW WITH UPDATE! My recent encounter with Algonquin Outfitters left me deeply disappointed. Despite being assured that my paddleboard would be held without payment or deposit, they sold it to someone else because I couldn't answer their call while driving. Great selection of high quality outdoor gear, super friendly staff. Located just 5 minutes from the whitewater section of the Gull river band tons of flat water paddling.
Just rented a canoe for 4 days from these wonderful people and the only reason I would hold back from 6 stars would be a fear of them becoming so popular that I wouldn’t be able to get a canoe next time! Their friendly staff member checked our intended canoe for pre-existing dings or marks (just like a car rental) before guiding us through putting it on the roof of my little car and thoroughly coaching us through the correct tie-down process.
