Dr. Schmidek was an absolutely amazing surgeon. I am so happy with my results and so thankful I went to her! I have wanted a reduction for so long and I’m so thankful that she was my surgeon. She did such a great job. She explained everything thoroughly and helped make me less anxious and the results are so aesthetically pleasing. A life changing procedure, I highly recommend.
From long referral processing times (1.5 months to process a referral, not to get an appointment--she has lots of appointment availability), to scheduling mix ups, to a cold, uncaring, and unprofessional consultation... just awful. Didn't leave the room to let me put a gown on. I'm now months behind on finding a medical provider. I wouldn't recommend her to women who aren't slim. Her phone staff are kind and informative and Virginia Mason staff are helpful and kind.
EDIT 9/14/2025 The response from the office is... underwhelming. I was not asking for personal or client information. I was detailing my experience as a transmasc person trying to get help, and how it's been excruciating getting any contact at all. This was my first surgery and Dr. Schmidek/her team made the process easy. She was personable, asked a lot of questions about my expectations, and communicated clearly what was possible and what to expect. It's been less than a week, so I'm still healing, but she did a great job with the surgery itself and is obviously a very skilled surgeon. All of the folks in her office are very kind. 10/10 experience
I have been attempting since May to book a consult with Dr. Schmidek for masculinizing top surgery, and have not been able to get emails back, calls back, or any information whatsoever. This was after being told on the first attempt that I needed to submit multiple letters from doctors before I could get a consult - I submitted the requested paperwork about two weeks later, and have been consistently calling, leaving voice mails, and speaking to staff who continually tell me I'll get a call back ever since.
