It's not safe here. I do not recommend coming here. I wish I never needed to come here. There is physical abuse. As well as broke ADA repeatedly. I am afraid for anyone who comes here including the children.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with the Alexander House was deeply harmful and important for other survivors to know. I reached out for help filing an HRO and was met with dismissiveness, a lack of presence, and what felt like zero trauma-informed training. I have called the shelter a total of four times and each time I do they totally pick and choose what situation they're willing to help and every time I've called I've really needed their help and they are heartless it seems like and won't listen to reason it doesn't matter what you say after they make their decision on whether they want to help you or not that's not okay it doesn't make any sense if you have a bed available and somebody saying that they need help and there's actual real reason why why the hell won't you help... read more
They only support victims of intimate partner violence. Anoka county has nothing to offer victims of violence in a situation outside that box. Super disappointing and leaves a gaping hole in services.
Well I wasn't going to leave a review until advocate called me this morning. So what I want to say about Alexandra houses this if you're in a unsafe place thenyes go to Alexandra House because you need to be safe.Its clean and you can get home cooked meals. The one thing you should know is don't go there looking for help or support there is none the people there are just apathetic they have no help in them no feeling for you know advocacy most people I see they have to fend for themselves they'll give you a bunch of numbers ... read more
