This therapy really was un helpful during a time I needed compassionate care. I was really struggling and this was more an appointment with a correctional officer than a therapist. It was really a lot of judgement, finger wagging, and "don't do that, bad." We never explored why my ED was there. I was in therapy with her for 2 years. I remember the force ful, judging approach. No empathy. She treated my ED like a behavioral problem that could be fixed with threats of a higher level of care and judgement. She never asked me why I used these behaviors or what my goals were. She used each session to talk about what she wanted to, to lecture me and judge me into complying. This forceful approach doesn't work with young teens.
