This business is has renewed my faith in humanity a little and I did not even have work done there in the end. Turns out I had an old repair on the windscreen not a new crack. Not being an expert in these matters I could easily have been fooled into an unrequired repair, but Todd kindly informed me of the previous repair (his eyes are better than mine) and the lack of requirement to do any additional work.
