We rented a budget camper car during July. While ultimately the car got us there and back, it also included a lot of things that brought down the trip. Short version is the car was in barely passable condition and the camping gear was dirty and most importantly, we didn't discover that the bagged sleeping bag had not been dried and the tent pad was also wet and moldy until we arrived late to our campsite next to a glacial lake. We had a great experience renting a 4Runner with a rooftop tent for our week of camping in Alaska! There were four of us, so we brought our own tent as well, but we could have borrowed one if needed. It was super helpful that the rental included things like a box with cooking essentials and a cooler. We brought our own sleeping bags and small chairs since we’re all seasoned campers, but we could have borrowed those as well. The car was dirty inside and out, the seats were torn, the divers side had been side swiped. Made it less than a block at 2 miles per hour. Returned it and was offered one that is at the shop. All the vehicles that we saw are in very poor repair. The secretary took it for a drive and didn't even make it to the end of the block and it quit running and had to be pushed back. Don't ruin your trip by renting from them and breaking down.
Wow the Alaska Adventure car rental is my favorite place to rent cars in all of Anchorage. They have such great prices, and some of the best customer service around. Every time I'm in town I head straight there and I book a car with ease.
Just want to give this business a shout out, from booking with them they were great from providing us sleeping bags, pillows, cookware,a cooler, basically everything we needed for our camper jeep other than food. They went above and beyond and picked us up when we arrived and dropped us off at the airport no extra costs. They were very professional and easy to work with, when we come back we will book with them again.
