I rent from Alamo a lot for work travel, and on September 29 at AUS I ran into some of the rudest customer service I’ve had. Check-in started normal: license, credit card, all good. Then the agent asked for a passport. I didn’t have it with me, because I’ve never been asked for a passport to rent a car in North America, especially not at Alamo. I offered a photo, he refused.
