I booked a Suburban with Alamo specifically because they had suburbans available. It was confirmed with the desk agent. After giving the credit card info I walk over with my family to get our car and all the valet desk had was a Ford explorer. Bait and switch. I asked specifically for the Suburban but the desk agent said that it wasn't possible to get what we ordered. I went over the golden gate bridge and guess what? on our statement was 586.92 for a ford explorer and the toll is $11.45. Shame on you Alamo. Last time you'll... read more
Alamo is my choice for auto rentals. I have used them every trip around the US and their selection and service is outstanding. I give them 5 stars!
Great rental experience. Car was a pleasure to drive. I always try to rent with Alamo whenever I need a rental.
I rented a car on my birthday. The agent was not too friendly initially. He then declined my card before even swiping it. I've been an Alamo insider for 10 years. I know the debit card rules. After going to check with a manager after 15 minutes of waiting he agreed to charge my card. I would've also appreciated a better car selection. Overall though I wouldn't choose a different rental company. I'm satisfied.
The service was adequate but the car selection fell far short of what was promised. We rented a luxury car which the category was represented by a Cadillac XTS. After a 20 minute wait, we settled for a Chrysler 300. It was not a comfortable week for 4 people traveling around California. They did offer us an SUV but only for another $175. They should have thrown in the upgrade for nothing since the category reserved was not available. It reminded me of a Seinfeld episode.
Establish an account that allows you to skip the counter and go directly to a car. There was a glitch as I drove off the lot but quickly resolved. This was a much needed step into the 21st century.

I have been traveling for years and never had a worst experience than the one I had at Alamo Rental in SFO. After waiting in line to get a "contract", we then waited another 1/2 hour to get a car. The worst part was attitude of the Manager "Patrick" and "Asia". They just kept on telling us we were next as dozens of cars just kept coming. We could not believe their smart aleck comments and the attitude of they just did not care. I will NEVER use Alamo again!
