This is a family owned and operated restaurant serving up tasty food with pleasant service. I ordered takeout, but, upon entry, wished that I had opted to dine in. It's such a cute place. I had the rotisserie gyro which was very good. If you're new to Mediterranean cuisine, this is a safe choice. This was my first time at Petras and it did not disappoint. Since moving here from Cleveland, Ohio I’ve craved a good gyro. First, this little family owned business is quaint and cozy in downtown New Albany right off the river. They have a small, comfortable dine in area as well as an outdoor patio w bistro tables. This restaurant is definitely designed more for takeout than dine-in. The atmosphere was quiet with little distraction. There is a nice outdoor dining area if the weather is nice. Parking is rough because it’s not actually connected to the restaurant. I was not charged for parking but I am not completely sure I was in a free lot. The food that we had here was ok. First time eating at a Mediterranean restaurant. What a fantastic place. I love family owned businesses that put love in their food. I had lamb for the very first time and they were delicious so tender. My husband had the double gyro and he only ate half! If you go they have parking beside the building and are in a fantastic area to walk off your big meal and homemade dessert! They must be taken home!!

My wife and I moved here from Detroit. We had access to a lot of really good Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food there. The shawarma at Petra is probably one of the best I've ever had! This is my new go-to lunch spot for sure. The lunch portions are perfect and affordable.
