The entire Akron children’s hospital is an absolute atrocity. It’s supposed to be a world renound institution that we can trust with our entire world (our children) but time and time again, they prove that a medical degree quit literally means nothing. My son has been in agonizing pains for days.. I was told to go to the ER for no reason and no one can tell me why my five month old is having problems or how to fix it. It’s cruel. Made a records request and never heard anything back. I sent a follow up email and even left a voicemail to the person in charge of health info & releases of information (initials CH). Still never heard anything back. Very disappointing.
The doctors are great. The front office staff aren’t the friendliest.. in particular the younger, longer brown haired one. She was more concerned with watching TikToks on her phone than being helpful to the patient in front of her. At least try to be discreet about it, youngin’.
I’ve been using Akron Children’s since my oldest was born 9 years ago. Before we had McMillen who was awesome every time we saw him. My daughter still likes to see him in the halls. Once he had left (but of course he came back so we see him from time to time) we switched around a few times. Both of my kids adore Don Buchanan. “Dr Don” is their favorite and they don’t complain to have to go in to see him. Between him and Emily the NP, my kids are always well cared for there in the Wooster Office!
I'm not one to post reviews, but KEVIN (the Medical Assistant) made the whole experience amazing!!! From vitals to hearing check to immunizations, (with his calm Master Shifu demeanor) he provided reassurance for the 11yo patient. Provider and office staff were good, but Kevin really helped us feel comfortable and made the whole experience great. Kevin- thank you for all the good you did us!!
