Worst experience I have had with a doctor thus far. Mismanaged my thyroid condition for years. When I asked for lifestyle/diet changes I could make to better manage my condition she said "I am not a chiropractor or a life coach, I am a doctor, I prescribe. If you're looking for that, that is not me." I should have left then and there. When I started gaining weight because of it, she blamed me and said she has no idea why my weight continues to go up. Im an Nurse Pracitioner and I was seeing Dr. Akbar for several years. I started my pellets with her. The pellets did help me. Her bedside manner is HORRIBLE. She tried me on a medication called Armor Thyroid and I explained to her I felt like it didn't work...she said OKAY and shrugs her shoulders. I wish I could give zero stars, because this practice has earned it. I have put up with this doctor for three years only because she was the first one who initially offered any relief for my symptoms. That said, the experience has been consistently unacceptable. My very first appointment lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes, with only 10 minutes of actual consultation. The rest was waiting. Since then, her chronic lateness has become the norm. I was in perimenopause and wanted to find someone to help with my symptoms and prescribe hormones. In Dr Akbars office, I had a question and she pushed a pedestrian pamphlet in my face and just said, “read up on your own”. Then, I asked about a patch rather than being pushed into pellets (pellets are more expensive) and she said I could get cancer if I did the patch The last straw was at the front desk I witnessed her yell at one of her staff in front of me.
