Good indian food near Columbia campus Whenever I go near the Columbia campus, I try to make the trip to Ajanta. While the decor needs some redecorating, the food is what I come in for. Try the chicken tandoori which is really flavorful without being too dry. Another interesting thing about this indian restaurant is that it is one of few that offer indian dishes with beef (if you dislike lamb). Service is above average and I rarely have to wait to get seated.

It was average – For the price you get, it's a decent dinner. Not the best that I've had before. The athmosphere was okay, average design. The waiters didn't seem very friendly but they were prompt. I'd still recommend it because the food may not be as great as some other Indian restaurants but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food. Worth a try!

Great Food, Wonderful Service, So-So Atmosphere – The chef, waiter, owners of this little gem really know how to make a regular feel welcome. I have been eating Indian food for over 12 years, and although Ajanta isn't high class cuisine, the food is excellent.

Columbia Univ area Indian food – If you can't make it to 6th street in the East Village and are looking for Indian food in the Columbia area this place isn't too bad. The atmosphere isn't the best but the food will satisfy your cravings. The specials are cheap.
