I am the owner of Bay Area WHF and also a general contractor. I have installed or inspected just about every whole house fan in production. Airscape is at another level compared to the competition. Do not be fooled by the advertising and marketing methods of other manufacturers, they are inferior and do not provide a better product or support for it. Neil, Nicole, Jake and the whole Airscape team are great to work with wether you are a DIY homeowner or a contractor.
I installed the Airscape Sierra 5300. It is awesome. a few parts were missing when I received the packages. Due to my schedule I ha hoped to install it 2 days after receiving the fan. I called them the next day, since it was too late to call when I discovered the missing parts. They sent me the parts overnight. Customer service was excellent when I contacted them. The product once received was well made and a DYI person can install without too much effort. The product is better more efficient and less effort to use and keep house insulated than previous whole house fans I have seen in my area. It is definitely quieter than my previous unit.
I installed a pair of the 1.7s in my house back in 2007 after learning the hard way--by installing, then removing, and returning--that the fans sold by the big-box building supply store are like jet engines. The 1.7s were a fantastic investment, which dramatically reduced my A/C usage and were whisper quiet. Now in a new house and I am looking to get the same great results.

I have been installing these fans for years in the custom homes I build. The pro installer program manager was unprofessional during our correspondence. Good fans, but did not like the Air Scape representative.
