New York Gourmet – I've visited Agata & Valentina on several occasions, each time something new was waiting. I highly recommend them for the best choice of gourmet breads, cheeses, desserts, as well as an excellent choice of wines. Agata & Valentina has a unique selection is most certainly the quintessential East Side neighborhood market.
declious and expensive – While not standing out from other gourmet food stores in the area, Agata and Valentina is worth the splurge now and again. Their produce is consistently fresh and there is a beautiful assortment of cheeses. The meat is some of the freshest around but the lines can be long and the customer service lackluster. Owner reviews? – First, the lines. LONG and for what? Rich people must either enjoy waiting, paying too much or eating bad food if this store is so popular. Oh, and the staff is NOT friendly at least the one I asked where something was and she said, "Over there." and went back to talking to her coworker.
Perfecto! – This may not be the cheapest store around or the most delicious, but it is certainly the most fun grocery on the upper east side. There is even a ready-made cafe in the front that serves wine, with a two-for-one during happy hour! So, sit back and enjoy the european feel of this neighborhood market.
LOVE this place – Absolutely great market. Fresh foods, all quality. My "go to" market on the UES.

great neighborhood treat – overall, very good value the vegetables are quite fresh the sliced meats are very good value coffee is vg and moderately priced lines can be long but move fast
Nice Produce & a great Cheese Department – Agata is a great place to go in the neighborhood for produce (heirloom tomotoes, wild mushrooms and jicama) and superb cheese. They make their own mozzarella. Although pricey, and super-long lines during peak times, they are a good alternative when Citarella is too busy.
