been wanting to redo our guest bathroom for a while now and finally pulled the trigger. got in touch with Ancona and they set up an estimate pretty fast. went over tile options and layout, picked something simple but modern looking for the shower and floor. work started maybe two weeks after that. demo was done in a day, then tile went up over the rest of the week.
Ancona retiled our master bathroom and I keep finding myself just staring at the shower walls. We went with large format porcelain tiles and the alignment is really clean, particularly where the walls come together in the corners. That part always worried me because a previous tile job we had done years ago looked sloppy right at those seams. This time around everything lines up. they did a full shower retile for us, floor to ceiling including a recessed niche for shampoo bottles and stuff. the niche corners are mitered not bullnosed which gives it a cleaner look imo. large format tile on the walls so fewer grout lines to deal with. drain area slopes correctly too no pooling at all
Our bathroom had tile installed maybe 15 years ago and the grout in the wet areas near the shower had basically fallen apart,chunks missing, a few tiles loose near the threshold. We tried regrouting ourselves with that squeeze-tube stuff from the hardware store and it lasted about three months before it crumbled again. Clearly something deeper was going on.
