the issue we had was our floors made this loud creaking every time you walked across the dining room and the finish was peeling up in patches near the windows where the sun hits. we figured the peeling was just cosmetic but the creaking drove us nuts. they came out and figured the creaking was from some loose subfloor underneath so they addressed that first before touching the finish. glad they caught it because just refinishing over top wouldnt have fixed the noise! once the floor was solid they sanded it all back and redid... read more
A&F refinished the floors throughout our first floor, about 900 square feet of white oak that had been beat up by two dogs and a lot of foot traffic over the years. The before and after is genuinely hard to believe. Deep gouges by the back door are completely gone. The cupping near the dishwasher leveled out after they sanded it down. Started looking into refinishing after our dog basically destroyed the finish in the hallway over a few years. Got three quotes from different places in Libertyville and A&F wasn't the cheapest but they spent the most time actually looking at the floors and explaining what they'd do. Took them about four days from start to finish for around 1100 square feet. Color came out a shade lighter than the sample we picked but they warned us that could happen with white oak and we're actually happier with it.
A&F refinished our floors and did a solid job with it. The color came out even and the finish has held up well so far,been about two months now. They were pretty easy to work with and didn't drag things out. Pricing was responsible compared to the other quotes we got.
They installed new hardwood flooring across our entire main level, roughly 1,100 square feet covering the living room, family room, and a long hallway that connects everything. We went with a medium brown oak and the result is exactly what we were hoping for. The boards were laid tight with no visible gaps, and where the hallway meets the family room there is a clean transition even though the rooms are at a very slight level difference.
