Spent 8 years with Aetna. Thankfully did not need them a lot, but when I did, noticed they are in the habit of denying claims. The online customer portal is not very good or helpful and it feels deliberately obscure/opaque for customers. The most egregious thing that happened besides the claim denial was that somehow Aetna leaked my plan data to another insurance company (yes, seriously) to be listed as someone else's primary insurance, such that I started getting unknown claims against my plan, which I had to get reversed. ... read more

My daughter is a transplant patient. We've been with another MCO for the past 12 years, but it was discontinued. New on Aetna and suddenly we can not refill her medications at our local Wegmans pharmacy anymore, because her medications are considered "specialty" and can only be refilled at a specialty pharmacy, as if our lives are haven't been complicated enough already, we now need to go extra mile to get her medications
