Was referred to this Dr for thyroid removal due to suspision of cancer, very nice Dr but I'm not confident in her ability or decision to remove my thyroid based on the endro reccomendation of suspusion without even looking at the imaging much less conducting her own test. I went to another surgeon for a consult who preformed his own ultrasound and gave medical advise. As it should be.

Things can go wrong, but how they are handled when they do matters most. After issues with a chest port insertion, I had extreme pain for 48 hours, the port did not function, and the oncology staff had never seen similar symptoms when attempting to access the port. Time is critical, so any possibility of the port failing should have been communicated as soon as possible, not after delaying chemotherapy (the chest port insertion procedure lasted almost quadruple the expected time, so clearly something unusual took place, but ... read more

Sept of 2018 due to test results, I was referred to this doctor for possible adrenal tumor removal. She had the CT scans reviewed by two Radiologist who told her that there was a 70% chance that my tumor was cancerous and she agreed and said I should have it removed immediately. I submitted to her surgery, which started laparoscopic for two and a half hours, then reverted to open incision for another four hours. The tumor and gland were removed and lab tests showed there was no cancer. The problem was that in the process, sh... read more

Dr Opoko-Boateng was the surgeon who removed my thyroid. I would highly recommend her. She is very personable, and compassionate. Explains everything very plainly. And done a fantastic job of a difficult surgery. She is wonderful.

My 18 year old son had a challenging surgery and Dr. Oboku-Boateng knew what to do. Not only is she medically smart she has a wonderful bedside manner which meant a lot to an 18 year old boy who didn't sink he's be waking up from emergency abdominal surgery

I had a friend who had a successful operation under Dr. O-B. I believe her to be conscientious. However, for the sake of anybody considering her I must tell you that I went to see her for hernia repair. While under the knife, she punctured my bladder (or nicked it, as they put it); I had to stay overnight and was catheterized for twelve days. And charged the maximum my insurance would allow me to pay for the experience. I strongly recommend going to Boston or NYC for surgery if possible.
