Honestly, I was a patient of Dr. Gavani's from 1990 until about 1998. about 8 years. I had contracted pneumonia and my childhood pediatrician suggest I see an allergist, because this had all started as an allergy problem to the best of her knowledge. From the second I walked in at the age of 13/14, scared and worried (as was my mother), she found the issue immediately. Dr. Gavani is so ignorant and rude! She walks around the office like she is above everyone while her staff cowers in fear while in her presence, or they immediately stop speaking once she walks out of an exam room. Dr. Gavani has never spent more than 5 minutes with me, talks to me in a condescending tone and is always angry. She doesn't like kids and proves this around my toddler when she says things like "your being bad today" or "get away from your mother". Come on now, no other doctor speaks like that to a child! EXCELLENT DOCTOR! – I also am not sure if the other two were talking about the same dr. My 12 y/o daughter began sneezing one day NON STOP....brought her to the pediatrician numerous times to no avail, tried numerous medications with no results. She sneezed even in her sleep. We were referred to Dr. Gavani as the pediatrician brings his two asthmatic children to her and said she is the absolute BEST. Good First Experience – Not sure if the other two reviewers seen the same Dr. Uma Gavani we did, but we couldn't be happier. She gave our son an allergy test in the Palos office and was able to diagnose his allergies on the spot. She gave us treatment options and was very nice, friendly, yet professional. Would highly recommend.
Just a Big Cattle Call – This office is unbelievable. I routinely waited 90 minutes for an appointment -- and I was the first or second appointment of the day. I went to the Oak Lawn office twice for shots and both times my records didn't make it into the travel file. When I said I was upset about this, the staff was rude and mean -- like it was my fault they forgot the files. I moved from this office as soon as possible.
Find another doctor! – Please, save yourself time and money and do not go to doctor - Uma Gavani. She is very unprofessional, rude, ignorant, and does not know anything but how to write a prescription for medication. She does not care about you. The most time she ever spent with me was 10 min the most, all the questions I had she had no answers to. She gave me wrong diagnosis. I was not allergic to the things she told me and did tests for.
