My elderly mother spent a couple weeks here after being in ICU for a blood clot. She needed help learning to walk again (previous sacrum fracture + clot) AND had increased dementia. The team of nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech/cognitive therapists were AWESOME! It really felt like they worked as a team and truly cared for my mom and her success. Only ok. My husband was there for a couple of weeks after a stroke. Therapists/doctor did their programs by rote. No real commitment to individual patients, no creativity. Commitment was to fulfilling the letter of the law, but the heart was missing in most cases. (There were a couple of standout people, - you know who you are - and THANK YOU! - but they were not the norm). Could and should have been much better.
